You
The new spirit-keeper
You are twelve and live in Jasmine Village, at the edge of the forest. Grandma raised you, and now it's your turn to look after her.

About the game
A spirit-catching adventure about a child, a grandmother who is starting to forget, and five lands full of spirits that only stay as long as someone remembers them.
Two thousand years ago, the Tamil Sangam poets split the world into five landscapes called tinai: the mountains, the forest, the river farmland, the seashore and the dry land. Each tinai had its own flower, its own hour of the day and its own feeling.
The game's world is built the same way. Walk from one land to the next and the colours, the music, the spirits and the mood all change with it.
"What we remember stays alive." That is the heart of the story, and of every spirit in it.
The people
You
You are twelve and live in Jasmine Village, at the edge of the forest. Grandma raised you, and now it's your turn to look after her.
Your grandmother
Valli is seventy-eight and grew up in the Hill Country. She knows every spirit by name, but lately her memory has started to slip.
Your rival
Quick, proud and always one step ahead, or so Vetri says. You'll keep running into each other all the way across the Five Lands.
A small light
The little lantern spirit that lives in Grandma's spirit room. It's always there in the background, glowing quietly.
What you'll do
Nothing is thrown. Your device casts a ring of light-blue light round a weakened spirit. It pulses until the spirit joins you, or breaks free.
From Kanalit the fire mongoose to Mugili the little storm dragon, across 11 types, including our own Song type.
Mountains, forest, river farmland, seashore and dry land, each with its own look, music and mood.
A clock runs the world. Some spirits only come out after dark, and each land has its own special hour.
Whistle for a helper spirit to cut, push or light the way. It never takes up one of your moves.
Free healing at the Spirit Center, with its teal lotus sign, and a Supply Shop next door in every town. Grandma heals your spirits at home too.
Spiritlands Online is made by Vignesh, an independent developer, in the Godot engine. It's built slowly and carefully, one land at a time.
Every line is written in English. People keep their own names, and the spirits have names of their own.
One short email whenever something real is ready to show: a trailer, a demo, a release date. Nothing else.
