Team Blackout

Lumen Power's secret night crew. They want your spirits, a promotion and a company scooter that starts. They get one of those, sometimes.

The motto

Every time they turn up, they do the motto. Raghu reads it off his phone. You may let them finish.

Rekha

When the land runs bright—

Raghu

—we switch off the light!

Rekha and Raghu

Team Blackout, on the night shift!

Gizmo

[...Overtime not approved.]

Team Blackout's black banner and sign, each with a yellow light-bulb emblem.
The crew's emblem: a cracked bulb in a ring of lightning, in Lumen yellow on black.

The trio

Rekha

Vain, ambitious and very dramatic. Rekha does the poses, and she wants that promotion more than anything.

Rekha

Well, well, well. A brand-new trainer. With a brand-new spirit. It still smells of Grandma's kitchen.

Raghu

Soft-hearted, and always sorry. Raghu secretly feeds every spirit he meets, and never remembers the motto.

Raghu

Hi! Sorry. Hi. We're not here to scare you.

Gizmo

Their storm-bird spirit, in a translator collar: the only spirit in the Five Lands that talks. The collar is far too honest.

Gizmo

[Greetings. We are definitely not thieves.]

The night shift

Behind the trio come the Blackout Grunts: hard hats with light-blue visors, black uniforms and yellow hazard stripes. They turn up wherever the lights go out.

Blackout Grunt

The job ad said 'bright future'. I thought they meant the lights.

And then there is the company scooter. They lose, it won't start, and they push it away with great dignity. A moment later, from somewhere far away: beep-beep.

A Blackout Grunt in a black cap and goggles. A Blackout Grunt with her hair in a bun, in a black cap and goggles. Team Blackout's old scooter, smoking.
